Audition!

Anyone who is 18 years or older and has a love of music is welcome to audition for the Yakima Symphony Chorus! Auditions are arranged at the discretion of the Chorusmaster.

Those who wish to audition for the Yakima Symphony Chorus should complete the following steps:

Audition Day: You will be notified by mail of the outcome of your audition.

Membership Requirements

All members shall participate in the affairs of the association. Members in Good Standing shall have all the rights and privileges of membership in the association, including the right to vote at membership meetings. A Member in good standing shall be any member who is current in dues and is actively participating in the Chorus.

Consistent rehearsal attendance is mandatory for members. Attendance at dress rehearsals (the final rehearsal before any concert) is expected. A maximum of two unexcused absences from rehearsal is allowed per concert season. An absence is excused if the member notifies his or her Section Representative of the absence before the missed rehearsal. A Leave-of-Absence may be requested if the member must be absent for more than 3 rehearsals or a concert. All members of the association shall abide by the concert dress code set forth by the Board of Officers. Men shall wear black suit/tux; women shall wear a performance dress that can be purchased through the YSO.

Cost of membership

YSC members currently pay a $35 Music Deposit twice a year (September and January). Deposit is refundable upon return of music. Cost of lost or damaged music will be deducted from Deposit. Each member is required to purchase their own performance attire (cost of women’s dress is approximately $150) and a black music folder for performances (some are available for loan from the YSC office).

*Some scholarships are available for students and in case of hardship.

Rehearsals

The YSC has two concert seasons: September-December and January-May. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday from 7:00-9:15 pm at Central Lutheran Church, 1604 West Yakima Avenue, Yakima, WA 98902 [map]. Dates may vary depending on concert schedule.
